It was a hot one today.....106 deg. F!!!!! It's after 7 PM and it's still 100 deg. It is miserable outside.
I got the orange waterlily (Nymphaea 'Perry's Orange Sunset') I mentioned in my last post. It shipped with what appeared to be a good bud on it, but after 2 days in the water I think it might abort. I'll just have to wait and see. This is what it looks like right now.
A little late in the spring, I planted some lotus seed and set a few of them out in a floating tub. I managed to save one and here's what it looks like now:
Yesterday I noticed a bud coming up next to the latest large leaf that has not uncurled yet so I figured I'd grab a photo.
BTW, this was supposed to be a "red lotus". I got it off eBay so there's no telling what I will get. I've noticed a number of people selling blue and red lotus who use the exact same photo so I am fairly certain there is some major Photoshop color manipulation going on in the original photo. To be honest, I'd be happy with anything from pink to red.
This little beauty has just started opening up. It is a Paravanda Meccas Candy ‘Sweet Tooth'.
It's an average to a little large flower for a Vanda, but very colorful and atypical for the lip and the way it holds the petals.
Now I've got to upload this and find a place to go cool off.
